Happy St, Patrick's Day from First Grade! Everyone did SUCH a great job on their leprechaun traps! Unfortunately we were NOT able to catch those tricky leprechauns! In fact, they made a HUGE mess in our classroom AND in our hallway. The classroom desks were all messed up and there were green tiny footprints all over the place! We had a fun time doing lots of St. Patrick's day activities today. At the end of the day we went on a scavenger hunt around the school looking for the leprechaun! We found his pot of gold and he left us some yummy green sherbet! It was such a fun day!!! I attached a lot of pictures for you :) Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Hi everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL weather this weekend. Please read the information below about our week:
1. Dictation sentences- We are getting the hang of writing our dictation sentences. Please make sure to practice these nightly.
2. Leprechaun traps- Don't forget our leprechaun traps are due on Wednesday. We will set them out Wednesday afternoon in hopes to catch those silly leprechauns!
3. St Patrick's Day- Your child may wear GREEN clothing (instead of uniforms) on Thursday to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!
4 This week: Our spelling words have the suffix -ly and -ful in them! We will also be reviewing words that have vowels in them like the word "moon". We will review cause and effect in reading. In math this week we will be practicing fact families. Last week we planted grass seed! The kids are excited to watch it grow over the next few weeks. We have many St Patrick's day activities planned for the week! It's going to be a fun week in first grade. Have a great week!

STAR reader reports
Hi everyone! I am sending home STAR reader reports to let you take a peek at your child's reading progress based on the STAR reader computer test. I highlighted a few pieces of information...
GE = Grade level equivalence
ORF = words per minute
ZPD = zone of proximal development (this is the level of books your child needs to be reading for an AR test)
If we met for a conference I have already given you this report :)
Make sure to read with your child every night. I am so proud of our awesome readers! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! -Shannon

Week of March 7th
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I enjoyed seeing many of you Saturday night. It was a wonderful night! Please read the information below:
1.Traps- Leprechaun traps are due March 16th. The kids are so excited about this! We can't wait to see their projects!
2. Dictation sentences-The children did well on their first week of dictation sentences. Please make sure to take a peek at the back of their spelling tests to see what area you can help your child succeed with these sentences. Thank you for helping them practice these at home!
3. Rice babies - April 14th will be our field trip to the hospital with our rice babies! This is such a fun field trip. We are in need of two pack and play cribs. If you have one that you would like to let us use, please let me know! Our rice babies sleep in the pack and plays while we are doing our school work :) I will send home information about how to make your rice baby at the end of March.
4. This week- Our spelling words are a little more challenging this week! All the words are compound words! There will not be challenge words this week. We will begin a study on plants in science. Math will be a review week and we will do a unit test at the end of the week.
We had fun with our fifth grade buddies last week! We created leprechauns and wrote about being lucky! I attached a few pictures.
