Welcome to first grade!

Welcome to first grade! This blog will be a great way for you to know about all the fun things we are doing in our first grade class. Each week I will post what we are doing in our class and post pictures  of our sweet first graders. I am looking forward to watching these children grow. First grade is such a special year! 

Last week information

Last Week of School Information

Monday- Monday is bring a buddy to school day! Your child may bring a stuffed animal to school if they would like to. We will also be doing a run through of our talent show. Please bring whatever your child may need for the talent show (props, CD for music, etc).

Tuesday- Tuesday is game day! Your child may bring a board game to school. Please no electronics. We will have our talent show on Tuesday at 1:30. Please note the time change. We have a lot of friends signed up for the talent show so we are now starting at 1:30. We will also send home portfolios on Tuesday. The children are excited to bring these home!

Wednesday- Wednesday the children will wear their house shirts. We will have our school wide picnic and class party. Our class party will begin at 2:00.

Thursday- Thursday is our last day! Chapel begins at 8:05. Please make sure your child wears their dress uniform. This is an early dismissal day. Please do not bring book bags on Thursday.

OOBLECK!

WOW! It was a MESSY and fun morning! We read the story Bartholomew and the Oobleck and then made our own OOBLECK! You should see our classroom floor :) Each child has their own bag of oobleck to bring home to show you! 

Do you want to make oobleck this summer? All you need is cornstarch and water!

Taking flight

We are learning about the Wright brothers in first grade! This morning we created paper airplanes and took flight! Just like the Wright brothers it took us several times to get the hang of it. Each day this week we will do a science activity! Tomorrow will be a little messy! We can't wait!

Week of May 16th

Hi everyone! Please read the information below about the next two weeks. I have also attached pictures from our field trip. We had such a fun time! 

* There are no spelling words this week. We will have math facts this week.

* Each day this week we will be doing a surprise science activity. The kids are excited to find out what we will do! 

* If you still have library books at home please make sure to return them to school.

* Our 1st and 2nd grade talent show will be on Tuesday, May 24th at 2:00. Please email me by Friday, May 20th if your child would like to participate.

* Our class end of the year party is 2:00 on May 25th.

* The last day of school is May 26th . This will be an early dismissal day (11:30).

Week of May 9th

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! We had such a fun time celebrating the special ladies in our life on Thursday at "Muffins with Moms". Friday was field day and the children had a ball! Everyone was such a good sport and worked together well as a team. I was so proud of our kiddos! We have another fun week ahead in first grade. Please read the information below:

* We will be going on our field trip to the Macon Science and Arts museum on Wednesday. Please make sure your child wears their dress uniform and brings a lunch box. Please do not pack food that needs to be warmed up. We will leave the school at 9:00. It will be a fun day!

* Our first and second grade talent show will be Tuesday, May 24th at 2:00. If your child would like to participate please let me know by May 20th.

* Our school picnic and end of the year class party will be Wednesday, May 25th. Our party will be at 2:00. 

* The last day of school is Thursday, May 26th. This will be an early dismissal day (11:30). No book bags this day please.
